Rejected
I had a conversation with a guy from a staffing agency to talk about a position I was interested in. After talking with him for about 10 minutes, he determined that I wasn’t the right fit for the position based on my lack of education and experience. I thanked him for his honesty, he tried to sell me on another position, and ultimately the conversation ended.
When all was said and done, Katie said that she was sorry that I was rejected, yet again.
However, I try to take a different perspective when it comes to rejection. If there is one thing that being in sales taught me, it is that you’re not always everyone's cup of tea. Not every opportunity is the right one for you. Additionally, you’re better off knowing earlier so you can move on to something different, instead of dragging things out for something that is not a good fit.
Rejection is hard for me. It always has been. But I’m thankful for the growth I’ve seen when it comes to realizing that it’s not always rejection, but rather the wrong fit. As hard as it is to be patient, it's better to be in a position where the fit is better and you are set up to thrive.
So be thankful for the times you’ve been rejected. Use it as motivation to press forward. The next opportunity is around the corner!
