Not quickly Broken

Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Ecclesiastes 4:12

Today, I learned there is some practical truth in this verse.

While trimming bushes, I had accumulated quite a pile of brush. Usually, I would load it in my truck and take it to the landfill, but without a truck now that was not an option. To keep the branches from blowing all over, I decided to tie it down with some twine.

I found some old twine, tied a loop at the end, laid the brush on top, put the other end through the loop and pulled hard. I tried to get it as tight as possible but in doing so, I snapped the rope.

I stood there dumfounded, trying to figure out what to do. It was then that I remembered from Ecclesiastes that "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” So, instead of one strand, I made three of them. I laid the brush on top, cranked down hard and got it secured.

The lesson here is while the Bible contains the very Words of God, it can also help you with your chores!
