Intentionally prepared
I studied Spanish for 9 years. I had opportunities to travel to Costa Rica and Mexico and I earned a Bachelor’s in Spanish.
Little did I know at the time, but all that education and those experiences prepared me for four months of ministry in Ecuador and Venezuela on a music ministry team with no translator.
While I didn’t know I would be traveling to South America when I declared my major, I am certainly glad I was prepared.
But the reality is, my preparation was unintentional.
The question I wrestle with is, how can we be more prepared intentionally?
Lately, I have been more aware of the importance of adding to and developing our skills. We need to think through the skills we may need one day and work to develop them. That way, when the opportunity comes, we will be prepared intentionally instead of banking on luck to get us through.
In what areas do you want to be intentionally preparing for what may come?
